Captain Alissa is an experienced saltwater angler residing in Tampa, and she loves to share her passion for fly fishing with others. Alissa is a military brat and has lived all over the United States. For the last 23 years, she has spent the majority of her time from Coastal Virginia to the Florida Keys; being exposed to this region has fueled her love of fishing and the outdoors. Alissa started fishing around the same time she entered kindergarten, gathering much of her knowledge from her father and grandfather in Beaufort, South Carolina. What started as a favorite childhood activity has since culminated into a lifestyle she couldn’t imagine herself without.

Alissa is a licensed and insured United States Coast Guard Captain. She operates a 2021 17’6” Beavertail Strike out of Tampa Bay and the surrounding waters as a guide, in search of primarily redfish, snook, trout and tarpon. Without a doubt, sight fishing with light tackle or a fly rod is one of her favorite pursuits. Her patient attitude provides her the ability to effectively teach beginners the techniques of casting a fly rod, catching bait, or working a lure, and how natural factors influence fish and their movement. On the flip side, she also appreciates the moments when she gets to watch an experienced angler place a perfectly casted fly or lure in front of a hungry fish. When she is not guiding, you may catch her at the occasional tournament. She has had a handful of wins, and a few top five finishes at fly fishing and inshore tournaments across the state.

Captain Alissa has also shared her fishing experience as a co-host on a number of fishing shows. Most recently, she co-hosted an episode of “Florida Sportsman Waterman” on The Sportsman Channel/Fox Sun Sports with Captain Sam Atwell, guiding him to an inshore slam in Tampa Bay (redfish, snook, trout). Prior to that, she co-hosted “Fin Chasers” on Destination America, where she secured five angling world records across two unique episodes. In addition to TV, she has provided guide and angling services for many national commercial campaigns, has co-hosted numerous talk radio fishing shows, published fishing reports, hosted fly fishing/inshore fishing seminars, was a featured angler in the book “Fifty Women Who Fish”, and been published in numerous magazines. She is always seeking new adventures in the outdoors and is looking forward to a lifetime of fishing.
